Some Kickass Journalists!
Today was like taking a huge baby first step towards being a real journalist!! haha Basically, all the reporting students, had to attend a 'media conference' for our final assignment. The conference was organised by Dr Hayes and the experience was just really sweet. There were tons of voice recorders, video recorders on tripod stands and flashes from cameras going off like every 5 seconds! haha
Although the conference revovled around some medical breakthrough in research about a bacteria called Salmonella, members of the floor asked questions as though they were truly concerned about the issue, or perhaps they really were considering how we have to produce stories based on the conference haha.
The 'Guest' Dr Kerr must have felt like an A-list celebrity with people requesting to take upclose pictures of him after the conference and with a huge mob of 'paparazzi' like students interviewing him and asking questions.
Tanny, Shilpa and I were like seperated for the post-conference period despite attending the conference together..there were just too many enthusiastic people haha this passer-by even asked me what the hype was all about.
I guess this is really why I came to UQ to do journalism, the programme has really been impressive thus far!
