Monday's a winner :)
Hello all you B's and G's,
Meet Monday, the currently 2 day old duckling that belongs to Reese, the guy living downstairs. Monday was abandoned by her mum cause she was slower than the rest of her siblings, which is really quite sad. However, now she has new home and lots of people to dote on her. Yay Monday!
In psyc lecture today, under the topic of attachment, some guy called Konrad Lorenz studied imprinting: any kind of phase-sensitive learning (learning occurring at a particular age or a particular life stage) that is rapid and apparently independent of the consequences of behavior,in ducks. Basically, he watched the eggs of a duck hatch and the first moving thing the ducklings saw were him. Thus they followed him and treated him as their 'parent' and even tried putting bugs into his mouth one day while he was sleeping under a tree.
It's really amazing to see Monday repeating this process with Reese, responding to his calls and following him around the house :)
