Aretha's guide to survival.

Brisbane draws nearer in two and a half days time. I'm not exhilarated I'm not thrilled but instead I'm calm and collected. This is a necessary way to feel if I forsee myself surviving another semester of bitch fights, catfights and just about every other fight.

The little voice in the back of my head is going to be a constant reminder that the Almighty bestowed us with intellect to achieve great things like good grades and not to scheme and plot against others, which people in general are very fond of doing. I know I sound so pesstimistic but 'happy people are usually those who have stopped aiming for greater things in life and are happy to be where they are'. Happiness is sometimes overrated.

On days when I come down with the misanthropist syndrome, pictures of people I love plastered across my bedroom will be a gentle reminder that one doesn't have to love the whole world but one has to love.

Mornings when I get of the wrong side of the bed, grouchy, wanting to sit on the toiletbowl and wail- I will try my best to remember I am twenty this year and not seven.

Rainy days are not an excuse to sleep in and miss class this semester, because if that were the case I would miss one quarter of my classes by default.

In a household whereby the kitchen is the busiest place, I must always remember I eat to live and not vice versa.

Last but not least, I will not miss out on local gossip, like 'who's done what under the veil of secrecy' happenings, so keep me updated alright? ;)

July Babies

Hello B's and G's pardon my long long hiatus..haha there's just so much to do and so many people to meet in Singapore!!

But first up a very Happy Birthday to 2 of my childhood friends..
Xinyi's party was held at SMU's screme and if you've never heard the phrase 'as pink as possible'.. well now you have haha the place was visibly wrapped in pink and so was the birthday girl :)
Mandy, Belle and I performed 2 songs which went slightly off tangent but that's ok ..it's over now and those 2 songs are officially banned in my house till the end of the year LOL
I'm not too sure if we were too busy camwhoring or if the Birthday girl was too busy attending to her guests but she wasn't in most of the pictures :( haha but we still love you loads!!

Right after Xinyi's 21st 'fiesta' came my dearest friend and housemate Yu Lin's birthday! Thanks to my mother's partial sponsorship we were able to pamper ourselves to a nice lavender hydrobath and balenese body massage in a couple suite ...which made me pause for a moment to contemplate the pursuit of a hedonistic and lavish lifestyle haha

Following which, we went to one of my favourite places in the world...a bookstore * beams* growing up, I have always been an avid reader, a trait most likely inherited from my good ole daddy :) I just love seeing rows of crisp books beautifully positioned on floor to ceiling bookshelves in Kinokuniya..I'm so getting those when I grow up.
And to spur on my sometimes wavering aspirations of being a journalist I bought myself a book! It's called One Fifth Avenue and its by Candance Bushnell the author of Sex and the City. The storyline of New Yorkers are pretty much the same but the language is crafted in a manner so tasteful that I simply couldn't resist haha
Coincidentally, while I was browsing through the book, Rhapsody in blue by Gershwin was playing ..which immediately brought to mind the animation of New York in the 1950's to the piece in Disney's Fantasia 2000...apt ain't it?
till next time then..
