Home

hey there B's and G's,
I'm finally back home- and there's so much to talk about about.

My plane ride with Chris and Kim was simply hilarious. Firstly, we were like the last three to board the plane ( to think I was still joking with the airport security with my " Airport security Strip Search department t shirt". And so we ran and had to jostle our way to our seats.
Then, being the inquisitive person I am, I decided to try a Bloody Mary ( caution: never drink it unless your plane has been hijacked by terrorists ). However, the air stewardess didn't believe i was 19 and thus, the use of a passport. Anyhow, out of good fun, chris and kim decided to order cocktails too and we were like kinda cross- drinking. and all was well and sane till....................Chris fainted! Undoubtedly very gracefully, but it was still a bit of a scare. He was like a VIP with all the stewards and stewardess at his beck and call haha but yeah I'm sorry about making you guys drink and I hope you feel better now :)

Also, thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes and presents, especially to the crowd that turned up to pick me and sang me a birthday song in the airport..19 is definitely a good age to be!

I've been so busy running from one activity to another I seriously could drop dead any moment! But, its really good to be back with my family and friends. Oh FYI my old singapore number is no longer in use, my new number is 94682752..so CALL ME ;)

School's OUT..YIPPEE!

Hey hey you you gorgeous B's and G's,
Today was like the last of my exams which equals to the last legitimate reason for going to school;) I'll be heading home in about 15 days time so let the countdown begin! I've just experienced so much this semester and it was just mind-blowing. Here's just a couple of shoutouts to those who have contributed greatly to those mind-blowing moments :)

Firstly, God has been really loving, gracious and amazing to me especially in my first sem here so really all glory be to Him!

My family, especially my beautiful mama and my sis! 'Love covers all', is truely an apt phrase to describe our relationship. No matter how horrid life gets or how many days I wake up on the wrong side of the bed, they are always there loving me and covering me in prayer.

Secondly, my bff, Kendrick, who calls me all the time just to remind me that no matter what happens he's got my back and of course to GOSSIP!Your presence in my life really brings a smile to my face which is so amazing because we aren't even on the same continent!

Kim, is next in line! I still remember what you told me the very first night I stayed over at your place.." I'm really glad I met you". And you know what kim? I'm really glad I met you too! You're my talk-in-the-dark friend
and we're gonna be roomies next year! I really am anticipating living together!:)

And who can forget my good ole' obligate, who has stuck to his end of the obligationship by attending all my bitching sessions and listen to me go on and on about anything and anyone, although I'm sure he had fun and was greatly informed haha you're like my gossip therapist ( if there's such a thing).

Next in line would be Pastor Cat and Huifang, who made a trip down and visited me here in the Sunshine state :) It was really heartwarming to see you! Thanks for bringing stuff down and to huifang for 'exercising' with me haha

Okay the list of people I want to thank is actually never-ending but my stamina is kinda pathetic lol so basically I just wanna say a big thank you to everyone who has been praying for me and accompanying me through this semester, physically or on msn:)
I love you guys one million red M&Ms and....

Life is beautiful- Vega 4

Hi B's and G's, got this song from the Grey's anatomy soundtrack. It's really nice!!

Life is beautiful
We live until we die

When you run into my arms,
We steal a perfect moment.
Let the monsters see you smile,
Let them see you smilling.

Do I hold you too tightly?
When will the hurt kick in?

Life is beautiful, but it's complicated.
We barely make it.
We don't need to understand,
There are miracles, miracles.

Yeah, life is beautiful.
Our hearts, they beat and break.

When you run away from harm,
Will you run back into my arms,
Like you did when you were young?
Will you come back to me?

I will hold you tightly
When the hurting kicks in.

Life is beautiful, but it's complicated,
We barely make it.
We don't need to understand,
There are miracles, miracles.

Stand where you are.
We let all these moments pass us by.

It's amazing where I'm standing,
There's a lot that we can give.
This is ours just for the moment,
There's a lot that we can give.

It's amazing where I'm standing,
There's a lot that we can give.
This is ours just for the moment,
There's a lot that we can give.

Blackhouse.

Hey there B's and G's,
As we all know by now, Barack Obama is the new president of the United States and the first black one at that. But seriously seriously, I think eveyone has been focusing on the wrong aspect of the campaign- many thanks to the media for its less than professional coverage of the U.S 2008 presidential elections.

As mentioned by ELizabeth Edwards, of The New York Times, much of the media coverage was on 'the rancour of the campaign' and ' the amount of money spent' rather than the 'candidates' priorities, policies and principles'. This is indeed danagerous because who knows if half the voters made their desicion based on irrelevant knowledge and slanted information.

Firstly, there's this 'hype' on Mr. Obama being 'Black'. While he is black literally( as we all can see), isn't the whole point of the presidential elections to encourage the U.S citizens in the participation and engagement of social and political change as one people, one nation?
Ironically, with this whole focus on the 'blackness' of Barack Obama, the racial segregation within the United States is emphasized.
Do not misunderstand me, it is perfectly acceptable to mention the significance of Obama being the first black president. However, when too much attention has been given to his skin colour, we tend to overlook other important aspects of the presidential elections. For example most of know that he will bring about many positive changes for the black community and minorities without much knowledge about what he can do for the rest of the American population with regard to more pertinent issues such as the plight of the failing economy and the Iraq war.

Just so you know,

Throughout the campaign, Obama has emphasized the issues of rapidly ending the Iraq War, increasing energy independence, and providing universal health care, at one point identifying these as his top three priorities.

Obama stated that if elected he would enact budget cuts in the range of tens of billions of dollars, stop investing in "unproven" missile defense systems, not "weaponize" space, "slow development of Future Combat Systems," and work towards eliminating all nuclear weapons. Obama favors ending development of new nuclear weapons, reducing the current U.S. nuclear stockpile, enacting a global ban on production of fissile material, and seeking negotiations with Russia in order to take ICBMs off high alert status.
Barack Obama. (2007-10-22). Obama-Caucus4Priorities (flv). Obama '08. Retrieved on 2008-05-18.

In economic affairs, in April 2005, he defended the New Deal social welfare policies of Franklin D. Roosevelt and opposed Republican proposals to establish private accounts for Social Security.
Franklin, Ben A (2005-06-01). "The Fifth Black Senator in U.S. History Makes F.D.R. His Icon", Washington Spectator. Retrieved on 2008-01-14

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Obama spoke out against government indifference to growing economic class divisions, calling on both political parties to take action to restore the social safety net for the poor.
Zeleny, Jeff (2005-09-12). "Judicious Obama Turns Up Volume", Chicago Tribune. Retrieved on 2008-01-14.

Education-wise, Obama proposes to reward teachers for performance from traditional merit pay systems, assuring unions that changes would be pursued through the collective bargaining process.
Davis, Teddy; Sunlen Miller (2007-11-20). "Obama Bucks Party Line on Education", ABC News. Retrieved on 2008-01-14

Obama proposed a cap and trade auction system to restrict carbon emissions and a ten year program of investments in new energy sources to reduce U.S. dependence on imported oil and proposed that all pollution credits must be auctioned, with no grandfathering of credits for oil and gas companies, and the spending of the revenue obtained on energy development and economic transition costs.
Zeleny, Jeff (2007-10-09). "Obama Proposes Capping Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Making Polluters Pay", The New York Times. Retrieved on 2008-01-14.
Barack Obama. "The Blueprint for Change: Barack Obama's plan for America" (PDF). Obama for America. Retrieved on 2008-04-20.

We all know "change has come to America"- the question is do we know what these changes are?

In the days of my youth

Remember your creator in the days of your youth
before the days of trouble come
and the years approach when you will say,
"I find no pleasure in them"
before the sun and the light
and the moon and the stars grow dark,
and the clouds return after the rain;
when the keepers of the house tremble
and the strong men stoop,
where the grinders cease
because they are few,
and those looking through the
windows grow dim;
when the doors to the street are closed
and the sound of grinding fades;
when men rise up at the sound of birds,
but all their songs grow faint;
when men are afraid of heights
and of dangers in the streets;
when the almond tree blossoms
and the grasshopper drags himself along
and desire is no longer stirred.
There man goes to his eternal home
and mourners go about the street.

Ecclesiastes 12:1-5
